Wyoming Cybersecurity Degrees Overview
The National Centers of Academic Excellence (CAE) is a joint effort from the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to accredit institutions that have the best curricula to prepare eventual graduates for their cybersecurity career.
At this time, there are no institutions that meet this criteria in the state of Wyoming.
There is a push to make the University of Wyoming accredited as a CAE with their Cybersecurity Education and Research Center, which has future goals of holding a Computer Science major with a concentration in cybersecurity and developing a laboratory for the curriculum.
You might consider an online cybersecurity program or a non CAE designation institution. Be sure to speak with the university's admissions or cybersecurity department (often the computer science or engineering department) to ensure it is an accredited university with a quality cybersecurity program.

Online Cyber Security Programs in Wyoming
At this time, there are no online opportunities for cybersecurity education in the state of Wyoming. However, residents in the state are open to looking at other schools across the nation to receive the best education from a designated CAE. Online courses provide an ability to break into the cybersecurity industry or for information technology experts to transition into a new career.
Typically, online programs will be available in mostly asynchronous format with requirements to complete assignments and exams within specific deadlines.
Students will need to check with the institution to see if they have the correct computer devices and software needed to complete the program. Common requirements include a Windows or Mac computer, internet access, and the Google Chrome or Firefox internet browser.
Master's in Cyber Security Degrees in Wyoming
Pursuing a higher-level program, such as a Master's degree, in cybersecurity will have many requirements for admission. Holding an undergraduate degree, typically a Bachelor's degree, with a cumulative 3.0 GPA is at least recommended.
Higher scores are especially beneficial in the later years of the program. Prior coursework should be completed in multiple levels of calculus and computer programming. In some cases, entrance exam scores, such as the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), will need to be submitted, or they will be optional and prospective students can use them to enhance their application.

Getting Started Working in Cyber Security in Wyoming
Wyoming does not currently have a designated CAE institution, but there are alternative educational choices at Casper College, Laramie County Community College, and Sheridan College.
All of these schools provide an associates degree in cybersecurity or computer security, and Casper and Sheridan Colleges have certifications in this field. Another alternative is going to conferences and events in the state that focus on cybersecurity.
This topic is discussed at the Wyoming Global Technology Summit that takes place each fall in Jackson Hole.
