Missouri Cybersecurity Degrees Overview
There are a variety of universities and community colleges that provide a certified cybersecurity education in the state of Missouri. Seven different institutions have been designated by the National Centers of Academic Excellence (CAE), which is a joint effort between the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to help eliminate the vacancies in the industry.

Online Cyber Security Programs in Missouri
Having to pursue a full-time job does not mean that pursuing higher education is unrealistic. Working professionals have the ability to learn at their own pace with online courses. Many of these programs will have all of their courses available online or at least a hybrid combination of meeting weekly or at night with coursework completed online.
Depending on the program, certifications can be completely self-paced based on course availability within a certain number of years after enrolling, and degrees will typically have assignment deadlines along with the on-campus format. The University of Missouri has an online Bachelor of Science in Information Technology that is 100 percent online and includes courses like Cyber Security and Advanced Cyber Security.
Master's in Cyber Security Degrees in Missouri
At Missouri University of Science and Technology, they offer a Master of Science in Information Science and Technology. Of the 30 credit hours needed to complete the degree, there are only four required courses. Students are able to fully customize the degree to their choosing, which includes topics in cybersecurity.
A Bachelor's degree with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA is recommended for admission, and GRE or GMAT scores will be needed when submitting an application. Some courses in the program are offered online through the Canvas learning management system, and they have a graduate certification in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance Management.
Required courses (which can be used in the Master's degree) include Privacy and Information Security Law, and Advanced Human and Organizational Factors in Cybersecurity.

Getting Started Working in Cyber Security in Missouri
For those that do not have much experience with cybersecurity, there are multiple community colleges that offer degrees for entry-level positions. At St. Louis Community College, they offer an Associate in Applied Science in Cybersecurity. The school recommends that students at least have enough computer skills that would be equivalent to those holding a CompTIA A+ certification.
The curriculum consists of general education with electives in mathematics, civics, and social science. Along with two credit hours of physical education, the rest of the 65-credit curriculum will feature computer science and cybersecurity courses.
